The top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League Sunusi Ibrahim has been tasked with the role of leading the line for the Nigeria U23 team when they take on Sunday
Sunusi who was drafted from the U17 to the U23 team finished as top scorer in the NPFL with ten goals for modest side Nasarawa United, same number of goals with Akwa United Mfon Udoh but he edged it on account of having one caution less than Udoh.
Since teaming up with the Nigeria U23 team he has impressed the coaches hence his inclusion in the 15 man list of home based players who are expected to leave Nigeria later today ahead of the game against Sudan.
Coach Imama Amapakabo is without the services of Victor Osimhen who scored a hattrick in the return leg against Libya to help them turn around a 2-0 defeat suffered in the first leg as they progressed with a 4-2 aggregate win.
His trust in Sunusi is based on his showing in training and also during test games ahead of the showdown against Sudan but he is likely to be paired with one of the invited foreign based players.
