Super Eagles disappoint in 1-0 loss to Czech republic

The Super Eagles failed to show their attacking prowess as they fell 1-0 to Czech republic in their last pre-world cup friendly played in rain-soaked Rannersdorf, Austria.

The Eagles created lots of chances but fell to a Kalas Tomas strike in the 24th minute off a rebound.

Unlike the match against England on Saturday, the Eagles attacked from the blast of the whistle but failed to score.

Returnee midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was busy throughout, while Alex Iwobi dropped deep into the midfield but lacked penetration.

Chelsea winger Victor Moses missed the best opportunity when he failed to utilize a chance created for him by Odion Ighalo.

John Obi Mikel headed straight at keeper Pavlenka, who was barely troubled by a limp Eagles attack.

Tyrone Ebuehi came for an ineffective Abdullahi Shehu, while Elderson Echiejile replaced Brian Idowu all to no avail.

The Eagles now head to Russia for their opening group D match with Croatia, having won two, drawn one and lost three matches prior to the world cup commencement.

  1. Why the cry about Nigeria loss to czech republc. Friendly match is not a do or die affair so people should not worry that much.let’s continue to support them whether win or loose until the world cup proper because I still believe what the super eagles can do at the mundial.

    • Well spoken.

But what are the lapses you noticed? What do you think needs to be done or corrected before our first match against Croatia?

    • Onazi has really been under fire lately for poor performance and nearly breaking team spirit.

He might be dropped to the bench.

Idowu appears favoured to start at FB.

      Lets hope for the best.
