Taraba State governor and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Darius Ishaku has won last Saturday’s governorship election.
Governor Ishaku polled a total of five hundred and twenty thousand, four hundred and thirty two votes, 520,432 to beat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi who polled a total of Three hundred and sixty two thousand, seven hundred and thirty five votes.
The State collation Officer Professor Shehu Manu, who declared the results at the INEC head office in Jalingo on Tuesday, said that the governor, “haven polled the highest number of votes and also satisfied other requirements by the law, has been declared winner of the governorship election held in Taraba state on the 9th of March, 2019, and is hereby returned elected”.
The governor won 12 out of the 16 local government areas in the State with a victory margin of one hundred and fifty seven thousand, six hundred and ninety seven, 157,697 to secure his second tenure.
Some residents of Taraba have taken to the street to celebrate the out come of the result despite the dusk to dawn curfew imposed by the government to prevent possible break down of law and order.
