Transmission Company to resume work at Gombe power station

Abandoned power sub-station in Gombe State

The Gombe State Governor Muhammudu Yahaya has assessed the abandoned power sub-station in Billiri Local Government Area, few days after receiving the report of the taskforce on improved power supply.

Governor Yahaya visited the station in company of a team from Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

The team was in Billiri on the instruction of its Managing Director, to take stock of the facility and see how work would resume at the sub-station.

The Governor said;”the state government would do its best to support and encourage the Transmission Company to deliver the project on schedule.”


He thanked the people of Billiri for the support shown so far and enjoined them ”to judiciously safeguard the project site against vandals.”


Governor Yahaya was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau.

The head of the delegation from the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Mr. Ebenezer Fadola said his team was in Billiri as a follow up to the visit of Governor Inuwa Yahaya to TCN where he made a case for the resumption of work at the substation.

Mr. Fadola said ”the team had now concluded all findings concerning the project and their report was equally ready for onward submission to the Managing Director of the Company.”

He disclosed that the World Bank was also keen on seeing to the actualisation of the Billiri power sub-station project, which when completed, would serve the whole of Gombe South and Akko Local Government Area , as well as to boosting supply in the state.
