An In-house Union, the Radio, Television and Theatre Workers’ Union (RATTAWU) has donated customised face masks and sanitizers to Voice of Nigeria (VON).
The Chairman of RATTAWU Who is an engineer, Mr Arthur Ankeli said the union felt obliged to contribute its quota in the fight against coronavirus particularly in protecting workers in the office.
While leading members of the union to hand over the items to the Diretor General of the VON, Mr Osita Okechukwu, the Union leader said it was necessary for all hands to be on deck to fight the contagion.
“We shall however play the Oliver Twist”, the labour leader said “we are pleading that the welfare of members of staff be given prompt attention in this trying times of COVID-19 pandemic”, as he appealed to the DG.
The RATTAWU Chairman, Mr Ankeli said his members would continue to give their best in service to their fatherland.
The Director General, Mr Osita Okechukwu, thanked the union members for their thoughtfulness in providing the personal protective kits to their colleagues whom he described as “frontline combatants in the fight against coronavirus”.
The DG told the Union that revolving loans and staff claims would be paid on the basis of First-come-first serve in line with standing agreement spelt out by the Committee set up for that purpose.
RATTAWU is a labour union with membership comprising of engineers, technicians, administrators, among others.
