US hip hop star Akon has tweeted that his plans to build a city in Senegal, where his family originally hails from, are on course.
He said he had finalised the agreement for Akon City to be built in the West African state:

There are not many details about plans for the city, which has been in the pipeline since 2018 when he announced the launch of his own cryptocurrency called Akoin.
At the time he said he wanted to build a “real-life Wakanda” on the back of currency – a reference to the fictional land of Wakanda in Marvel’s Black Panther.
He told his fans that he had been gifted 2,000 acres of land by the Senegalese authorities to start the project off.
Akon promised the city would be a “futuristic environment”.
