Uzodinma’s victory re-establishes APC’s foothold in South East Nigeria – Oshiomhole

Cyril Okonkwo, Abuja

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said on Friday that the Supreme Court decision that pronounced Hope Uzodinma as the Governor of Imo State has re-established the foothold of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South East geo-political zone of the country.

Oshiomhole stated this when he accompanied Uzodinma to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

He said that Uzodinma’s assumption of office as governor was in line with President Buhari’s vision of uniting Nigeria.

“Now we can truly say that we not only control the centre, we have governors in each of the six geo-political zones.  That I believe is good for our party.  I also believe it is good for the government.”

Huge Experience
According to Oshiomhole, Uzodinma brings on board as governor huge experience, which would bear on his office.

“He has been in the legislature at the federal level; he understands what the issues are.  So Imo people are free from the challenge of the learning curve.

“He is going to work and bring to bear all those experiences he has gathered from the private sector, the national legislature and of course as someone who deeply believes that Imo ought to be better than where it is.”

Oshiomhole said that President Buhari was excited to receive the new Imo governor, who used the opportunity of the visit to acquaint the president with the work  he has done since he assumed office as governor.

Also speaking, Governor Uzodinma said that he has begun consultations with leaders and political stakeholders in Imo State to ensure reconciliation and peace in the state.

He promised that he would not disappoint the people of Imo State and would bring good governance to the people in consultation with the political stakeholders in the state.
