VON commissions training centre in Abuja

Voice of Nigeria, VON’s state of the art training centre has been commissioned in Abuja, for training and retraining media professionals.

The training centre was commissioned by the management team of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA led by the Director General of NITDA Professor Isa Pantami and the team of VON’s staff its management team led by the Chairman of Board of Management, Mr. Ibrahim Buba and the Director General, Mr. Osita Okechukwu.

Professor Pantami said the move would strengthen the partnership between NITDA and VON to promote development in the country.

 “Voice of Nigeria is very strategic especially because of its mandate to promote the image of Nigeria particularly to the outside world,” Professor Patami said.

According to him, the NITDA will collaborate with Voice of Nigeria to project the agency and help it achieve its goals.

The Chairman of Board of Management of VON, Mr. Ibrahim Buba commended the sister agency and the Nigeria Army for donating the state of the art facilities at the training centre.

Mr. Buba said; “Voice of Nigeria is a media which tell the stories of Nigeria to the rest of the world…It has gone through some challenges especially funding but the board has been working on how best it can be repositioned.’’

VON’s Director General, Mr. Osita Okechukwu commended the donors, saying that the organisation is ready to collaborate with other sister agencies in realising its goals.
