VP Osinbajo arrives in Lagos for gubernatorial, state assembly elections

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday arrived in Lagos, where he and his wife, Dolapo, will vote in Saturday’s gubernatorial and house of assembly elections.

Special Assistant to the Vice President on Communication Projects, Arukaino Umukoro, confirmed Professor Osinbajo’s arrival in Lagos to Voice of Nigeria.

The vice president and his wife will cast their votes to elect one of the 41 candidates from various political parties contesting to become governor in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

They will also be voting to elect one of the 589 candidates of different political parties running for the 40 seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The Polling Unit 033 at the Victoria Garden City, where the nation’s number two citizen and his wife will vote on Saturday, is one of the 8462, spread across the 20 local government areas in Lagos State.

Professor Osinbajo was Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Lagos State from 1999 till 2007.

He also worked as Professor of Law at the University of Lagos until 2015 when he became the Vice President.
