Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has urged the people of Kogi State to take their state to the Next Level of the the President Muhammadu Buhari administration by voting for the Aĺl Progressives Congress, APC, in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
The vice president was speaking on Saturday at the APC governorship campaign rally in Idah, the traditional capital of the Igala people of Kogi State.
He said the APC governorship candidate and incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, should be re-elected to continue the programme of the party.
“16th of November is the next level day. That is the day of the next level. That day, we must go out, everybody to his own polling unit.
“The only way to make sure that you get to the next level is by making sure that day, all of us, everybody is APC that day; every single person. And we must make go there and vote for Governor Yahaya Bello”
Vice President Osinbajo said he was in Idah to deliver the message of President Buhari to the people of the state, and pointed out that the APC administration in the state has passed the preliminary stage and was ready to go for another term.
He assured Kogi people that they would “hear good news” on November 16.
Work in progress
Addressing the rally, National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said that Kogi State was work in progress with a lot to do, which Governor Bello would complete if he is re-elected.
Oshiomhole said that Bello has done a lot for the people of the state to deserve re-election.
“I’m sure that this time four years ago, my own comrades, workers, they were not being paid.
“I believe governor has done something about that.
“But the problem of governance is that the more you work, the more work that you need to do.”
Oshiomhole said that the presence of APC leaders in Idah was to assure the people that they have absolute confidence in the ability of Bello to take Kogi State to the next level.
He said Bello had done his apprenticeship in government, warning them not to allow another person who will come to learn the ropes in government.
Oshiomhole announced that President Buhari would be in another part of the state for the official flag off of the party’s campaign.
For the masses
Also speaking, Governor Yahaya Bello said his administration in the state has been for the masses.
He said that his government has achieved a lot in the development of infrastructure and called on the people to vote him “to do it again.”
The governor said that the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the bridge that links Idah, Kogi State to Agenebode, Edo State has been performed.
He said the bridge, which will “revive and revamp the economy of Igalaland,” would be constructed “across the River Nigeria” in 13 months.
