The Group Managing Director of the Nigeria Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Mele Kolo Kyari has promised that his administration will be transparent and accountable.
Mr. Kyari made this known when a delegation of the Executive members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors paid him a visit on Thursday in Abuja.

The NNPC GMD promised to partner with the Guild in the area of accountability and transparency.
He said: “The Guild of Editors is not just media people, they are policy people, the policy makers, the people who set direction and therefore there’s no better platform for interaction between our company and the media than the platform the Guild of Editors provide.
”We promise that we are going to be very transparent and we also promise to be accountable to the share holders of this company which includes every Nigerian, so you have a role to play to make sure that we do the work on your behalf.
“You are not just Editors of News media, you are shareholders, so we will keep to our promise to be accountable and be transparent.
“We urge the media to hold us accountable, when we get wrong, please tell us and support us to do the right things. If we work together, you have the right information and we will be truthful to you so that the reporting becomes factual and true, our doors are open to you, we will tell you the truth and you can publish the truth.”
The President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Ms Funke Egbemode thanked the GMD for supporting the Guild and promised to partner with NNPC in the area of productivity.
“We will work with NNPC and assist in letting Nigerians know the functions of NNPC, we will report when you wink.
“We hope to serve as part of your crew in case of an emergency.”
Other Executive members of the Guild who were present include: Vice President (North), Hajia Sani, Vice President (East), Samuel Egbala, General Secretary, Mary Atolagbe, Assistant General Secretary, Austin Elewedalu, Social/Publicity Secretary, Ken Ugbechie , Treasurer, Victoria Ibanga, and Standing Committee Members, Gabriel Akindeawo, Steve Nwosu, Hussein Bangshika and Catherine Agbo.
