Falconets’ super striker Rasheedat Ajibade has expressed disappointment over the team’s 0-1 loss to Germany in their opening match of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup currently underway in France.
The Falconets fell to a 69th minute strike by German goal poacher Sanders, after a very tight encounter with scoring opportunities far and in between.
“Disappointing result today against a good German team but feel proud of our team and lots of positives to take into the next game,” Ajibade said via twitter.
She thanked supporters for standing by the team and promised a better outing against newcomers Haiti.
“Thank you for all the great support. We go again on Thursday against Haiti.”
The defeat makes it the third time the Nigerian side have been edged by their European foe, but they can take heart from a solid outing – with only goals missing from their efforts.
They must now beat Haiti and China to make it past the group stage.
