Nigerian women have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to form a more inclusive cabinet as he assumes a second term of office.
The women made the call in Abuja when a delegation comprising female politicians, technocrats, wives of political appointees and associates of the wife of the President, paid him a Sallah visit at the State House.
Leading the delegation, the Senior Special Assistant on Administration to the wife of the President, Hajo Sani said there were many qualified women in the country who were capable of holding good positions.
Whilst thanking God for sparing President Buhari’s life, said they had fulfilled their promise of voting enmasse for him and enjoined him to keep his campaign promise of carrying the women along.
The women noted that females who had previously held government positions had done well and new appointees would also do well.
Responding, President Buhari said women were granted sensitive portfolios in his first term like taking charge of the treasury and the civil service because of their integrity.
The entourage included Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Eyo-Ita, APC Women leader, Hajia Salamatu Baiwa, amongst others.
